Climb the Koper Bell Tower and enjoy breathtaking views of the town, the Adriatic Sea, and the Istrian countryside.
Standing 54 metres tall, the Koper Bell Tower has dominated the town’s skyline for centuries and remains one of Koper’s most recognizable landmarks. As you climb its 204 steps, you will discover the story of a former defensive tower that has witnessed the city’s development and daily life throughout the ages. Tickets can be collected at the Koper Tourist Information Centre (TIC Koper), where visitors receive instructions and a QR code for access to the tower.
At the top, you will be rewarded with one of the most spectacular views in Slovenian Istria. The panorama stretches across the historic town centre, the Bay of Koper, the Istrian countryside and, on clear days, all the way to the Alps. Visitors can also admire Slovenia’s oldest functioning bell, cast in Venice in 1333, and experience the unique connection between the city’s rich heritage and its vibrant present.
Access to the top is possible only via stairs, therefore the visit is not suitable for people with limited mobility or anyone who may have difficulty climbing a large number of steps. Comfortable footwear is recommended, and the effort of the ascent is richly rewarded by the unforgettable view from the top.
